Ao3 hasn't been around for ages, dude.. That writer could be the only one in her fandom who has bothered to archive her works there, and maybe all of her stories got tons of hits on a now-defunct former fandom-specific archive, or a message board, or even FFnet.

If her stories are shit, though, that could just be another explanation..

Yes. My old fandom lived on Yahoo Groups, and now all that fic is gone. *sobs* I keep thinking maybe if I uploaded my old stuff to AO3 maybe someone else would crawl out of the woodwork and do the same, but mine really wasn't that good and it's so many years later it'd feel like attention whoring. So I don't. But one day, ONE DAY, I will write something new and fabulous and kick start fandom all over again!!!!! Perhaps.
