do you rage quite as badly when they pop in real life, in a non-fandom/entertainment context?

Yes, yes I do. But since I don't really care about celebrities, and my circle of friends doesn't discuss them much, either, I rarely have to deal with celebrity relationship portmanteaus.

I'm not talking celebrities - they would be included in the entertainment context. I'm talking regular everyday stuff. Like the word "smog". That's a portmanteau. So are lots of other common words that we don't even think about anymore. Or locality smush up names - you see a lot of those in the US at least if you live anywhere near state or county lines. That's what I'm talking about.

Portmanteau words in general, no, especially not ones I'm really used to like "smog". It's portmanteau relationship names that put my teeth on edge.
