...Is it common for people to pronounce punctuation when they speak where you come from?

The only one I can think of is Carrot Ironfounderson, but that might only be for the City Watch Oath.

There is a way to pronounce an exclamation point. Or, rather, the exclamation point is the way your write a certain clicking sound heard in some languages.


(For example, the character !Xabbu from Otherland.)

I think it's a Kalahari bushmen thing? Maybe? I dunno, I used to have a roommate who was a linguistics major. Anyway, yeah, there's a couple of languages where it represents that clicking noise people make with their tongue against the roof of their mouth.
