The point is that even afterthe passages were "marked" huge chunks from more unknown works wer unmarked and what was "cited" only attributed say one rather than a whole dialogue snippet. Also, if you know thedifferent sources you can feel how theyswitch and the inconsistence isnot good style.

I miss the olden-days of LJ too, but sadly it seems those days are gone. :/ That's why I've been trying tumblr. I don't even have an account tbh, I just search by tags. It seems like tumblr is next to impossible to communicate with anyway, so I'm fine with not having an account.

Maybe not! I'm not familiar with it myself (sorry, lol) but there's usually someone out there who shares your interest! I've heard of the show before, but it was a long while back.

:)

*nods*

I've got an unfinished fic somewhere in a file in which a major plot point is that after the war, the Ministry starts tracking students sorted into Slytherin based on the assumption that they're evil; that's the logical progression in the kind of world JKR creates. *shakes head* I too wanted more good Slytherins; it would have made the world building a lot more believable.

I like the sentiment wrt to Slytherin but this passage just makes me want to rage, partly because Harry named his kid after Snape, the man who was a Death Eater and only turned "good" because he wanted to bang Lily and couldn't if she was a corpse, but also because he said that Snape was probably the bravest man he knew. Really? Fucking hell, Snape had literally nothing to lose in the end because he'd made his life a hellhole without friends or happiness by being a colossal dick to everyone. You know who I think was infinitely braver? Like, everyone else on the good side... because I think it takes way more bravery to put your life on the line when you've got everything to lose.

Not to mention, 99% of the time Snape wasn't even around Voldemort, he was at Hogwarts with Dumbledore where he spent most of his time bullying kids, so... his job wasn't even that dangerous?

Exactly. I'm a douchebag and I'm in Hufflepuff.

Then again, I'm way more competitive than I am ambitious - if that makes sense...

That totally makes sense. I am extremely competitive. Put me in a game situation, and I'm all out for blood. However, I'm not ambitious at all. I'd prefer to work alone then to be the boss. I'm Slytherinish more for my persuasion and my perfectionism than for ambition.

I heard a story once where apparently somebody told Alec Guiness they had seen Star Wars 100 times and he was their favorite. Sir Alec's response? "Never watch it again."

You remind me of that, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I think you should pretend it is - at least offline where you have a better chance of encountering people who might not have seen it before. Act totally confident about it and see how many people you can fool before someone finally calls you out on it.

Um...if you're trying to speak for why women in general love the games, then yes, that IS stereotypical.

If you're just speaking for yourself, that's fine. But I'm side-eyeing the wording of the secret.

Okay, I've heard several different versions of this, so -- is the Doctor about to run out regenerations? I've heard 12 is the maximum number of regenerations, so I guess that would give 13 Doctors total, but... that's getting a bit close. Am I completely off base? Have they addressed this?

It's a thing that seriously bugs me. I'm a graceless moron that dumps tips into their coat pockets on their way out, and if I don't jangle equally on each of my sides, it's weird. Plus there's the weight difference too, and I end up making up for it in the way I walk.

Re: Physical acts you have a non-sexual thing for?

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2012-11-28 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Um, it's not a physical act, per say. However, I very much like it when two people who are very good friends and will never be romantic partners say they love each other. It can't be in the joking or lighthearted way either. I need the announcement to have weight behind it. It's serious.

Random example: Jane is going to sacrifice herself to save the day. John doesn't want her to. She says she has to. He says he couldn't bear it because "I love you". She smiles, says "I love you too" and that's why she has to do it. And then she dies, the day is saved, blah, blah, blah.

That is normally a romantic declaration. But if it's done where the characters and audience know they're speaking about their platonic friendship love I am all over that. I love it to death.

Yeah, this too.

I'd just be like "uhh...because it's a good game?" Why does he want to know, anyway?

[personal profile] intrigueing 2012-11-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite scenario that could happen without totally unraveling the plot of season 6 (I sorta hashed this out with a friend a while back) would be them leaving voluntarily on a happy note in the premiere of season 7 after a farewell adventure, and then several episodes later, have a little scene at the end of an adventure like, 40 years in the future where the Doctor is randomly around dealing with some catastrophe with a new companion, and after he's finished saving the day old!Amy and old!Rory see shit going down on TV and dash over to the site of the catastrophe to see him again. With like, grey hair and retired from good jobs and friends and maybe a load of kids and grandkids.

THAT would be the kind of "timey-wimey"-ness that would actually mean something to me instead of yet another case of "oh, oh, look doesn't that blow your mind?"

It sounds like she may have a learning disorder. I had the same issues when I was her age, and then later big issues with word problems. Eventually I was tested and found out I had a learning disability. I would try talking to her parents and suggesting she get tested.

Nodding right along with you.

This is why I love fandom so much. Draco is really just a cipher in the series, for example, but fanfic really fleshes him out. The same can be said for most of the characters that aren't the Trio really because Harry's the POV character for most of the series except that one snippet with Snape.
