Re: Oh you, Tumblr.

I think I mixed this person up with someone else--which was fairly stupid of me, to assume that two people named Jenn spouting ridiculous shit on tumblr had to be the same person. And the Tumblr is gone now too.

The person I supposed Jenn to be went by Wearyturtle, she claimed that she was a multiple system living inside a "22 year old white, female, female bodied, cisgendered, transabled, pansexual, aromantic, asensual human," and she and her alter both had headmates and at least one of the headmates had an alter, including a toddler, a faerie, a Japanese telepath and a flying Jack Russell terrier. Also, her alter, Justice, was an objectum sexual in love with a bookcase called Hunter. And she was upset that her parents wanted her to go to school and get a job, because "work intended for an adult human cannot be done by a toddler and a flying dog."

But I'm fairly sure this person was trolling the hell out of the Tumblr multiple, otherkin, vegan, FA and sj communities...

Here's a rundown:

...That shit happened in 2001? God damn, make me feel old, why don't you...it certainly doesn't feel like eleven years...

Huh? No he wasn't. He was Seeker on the Slytherin Quidditch team and everything. Sirius was disowned for being a Gryffindor; Regulus was 'the good one' in their parents' eyes because he was a Slytherin.

EDIT: Haha, sorry, didn't mean to jump on you. I replied directly from my e-mail.

Ah. Then I can see how that might be more out-of-left-field than it is for everyone else who discovers fictional bestiality. (I don't think anyone skips out on the "wait, that's ... how is that even possible?") I was growing into a very kinky kid, and I actually ended up talking to one of my friends about bestiality in awestruck, terribly excited tones, because I couldn't keep it to myself. I was a biology geek since forever, and I'd learned before that different species not only couldn't produce viable offspring, generally they were *just* different enough that they couldn't mate with each other. So the idea that humans and animals could have sex blew my mind. The idea that it could be rape didn't occur to me immediately, because I was used to thinking of animals as stronger, faster, with better senses than human and nothing against doing stuff that felt good. To be honest, I was more surprised that humans were durable enough to survive sex with some of the animals I saw mentioned. And it was all very fascinating.

Haha, yeah, I'd award points for bravery. Looking at the more reactionary comments you've gotten, it's a more sensitive topic than I expected. And all you did was read a story. I don't know where people get off on thinking that some kinks need policing, when they're all equally victimless in fiction. I mean, there aren't people jumping down the rape!fic nonnies' throats with "prove to us that you know the difference between fantasy and reality OMGBBQ!!" and I'd certainly hope that isn't because they think rape is a less serious crime. Fans need to give each other the benefit of the doubt, and not just when the trails have been blazed and X is a well accepted kink.

*nods* That makes sense to me, because you're still cultivating a relationship with an intelligent being.

Sure. Animal Control (http://kinked.dreamwidth.org/4722.html) is the story on decyphered that I was recommending, if it turned out to be hard to find. I like how much it made me think about how we treat animals, among other things; how much we're willing to limit them for our convenience and then argue it's for their own good.

It probably wouldn't be of interest to an ace, but ... I randomly found this story (http://archiveofourown.org/works/567716/chapters/1016023) that gets into the mindfuckery that goes with bestiality's social stigma. It's got a lot of sex scenes, though, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a heavy abuse or objectification kink.

Just passing by, but these quotes "If you found such pleasure to be had in fics, what's to say you won't take it a step further and try to experience it in RL?" and "It sounds to me like you're one step away from facilitating [bestiality] somehow" are accusatory and hysterical, with no basis. The anon read a fic and learned a little about bestiality on the internet. They're under no more obligation to prove to us that they can tell the difference between fantasy and reality than an anon who expressed an interest in any other kink. Suggesting otherwise amounts to harassment. Insinuating that they might molest animals in the future because they aren't appropriately horrified at the idea of real people having sex with animals definitely amounts to harassment. Cut it out.

Because people just quit doing objectionable things if you, personally, treat them like pariahs, amirite?

Come on. It's not like people who talk about engaging in bestiality, despite the HUGE social taboo, have any shortage of people telling them how much they disapprove, online and elsewhere. The OP expressed genuine curiosity and got answers. Anthropologists and criminologists do it all the time, with zero controversy. No person on earth is going to be like "see? This one stranger not hating me totally justifies what I'm doing!" So live and let live already.

OP

Not as good as SJA was towards the very end, but that can be expected. I really hope they'll add a girl to the main cast soon since the only ones there are the protagonist's grandmother, his potential cameo love interest, and one of the main villains. The buddy buddy relationship between the two main boys can get a bit forced, especially when they're going "Oh remember how just four weeks ago I was bullying you? Haha! Wasn't that hilarious?" I think it would've been better had they just been classmates that'd never spoken. Also they can be really dense sometimes, like they'll be oblivious to something and I'll be going "What are you doing?! Clyde and Rani's alien senses would've been going off ages ago!"

But other than that - and taking into account it's in its first season - I've been really enjoying it. It truly is an RTD production. High emphasis on the family and them being involved in their children's life. Despite the main villain's overall camp, the last two stories have really painted them in a nuanced light - considering the show's target audience - without overdoing it and portraying them as woobies either. (There are severe irreversible consequences to their actions.)

I also love how they sort of take the Harry Potter message "magic is great! everyone who is great is magical!" and turn it on its head, often having the solution to problems be combination of science and magic. There's some great lines between Benny the "Unenchanted" and Tom the Wizard arguing over whether something's a parallel dimension or a "threshold of enchantment".

It's fun to look at, fun to watch. Not great philosophical fare, but definitely great to sit down to at the end of a long stressful day. And there are several Doctor Who actor crossovers including the one Slitheen woman, the mother in Fear Her, and Donna Noble's fiance, Lance. Not to mention Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones and Brian Blessed portray two of the main villains.

The fuck.

You do realize it gives a random set of questions each time and more than often it ends up giving you questions that force a bias into a house. JHC it's an online quiz that means nothing, get over yourself.

OP isn't an anthropologist, just someone who wants to get their rocks off to something, don't even try to compare the two.

And "live and let live" is something you should be telling the people who think it's perfectly okay to force sexual intercourse on animals that are unwilling and uncomprehending of the situation. Tell them to go masturbate to a National Geographic or something.

I was under the impression y'all were worried about bestiality practitioners influencing OP, not the other way around, but okay.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
She is very much both. (Similar to your icon above, the "I'll help you" bit in New Regime is possibly the most intense line-delivery I have ever seen.)

Don't want to go looking for fandom until I'm finished because I hate spoilers - and I have a feeling it's going to be a bit of a pain to find things with the CW show cluttering up the search results.

Bummer, it says "deleted journal"

But yeah, that has to be a troll. It...has to be...right? Because really

And..."trans-abled"...what on earth even

Never heard about this, either, but I do know - and so should everyone else since it was used to publicize her crap books further - her father is a well-respected business strategist and she frequently claimed she didn't need to work for a living. It's nice that someone who didn't need to work, had a job, and also came from a relatively wealthy family thought it was ok to take charity from people who were certainly not anywhere near close to being in that secure a situation.

I just re-read all OP wrote, both on the comments and the secret itself, and nowhere does it say that:

a) the OP isn't an anthropologist
b) they "get they rocks off to [bestiality]"

It doesn't preclude that you might be right, but given that OP has said they are asexual, I wouldn't exclude the possibility that they find the specific act interesting without it being arousing. I know they said "holy shit" and "I'm going to hell", but they both could be interpreted as feeling guilty about finding it interesting and not running away as if burned.

I'm not asexual, but given that there's a lot of variety in the sexual spectrum, I'd expect it to be the same among asexuals.

.

.

(also, I am an anthropologist. I'm sure you couldn't tell)

OP doesn't have to be an anthropologist to be allowed to ask honest questions.

I'm not going on bestiality forums and telling people anything. But it's ridiculous to hold someone responsible for things they aren't doing, on the basis that, oh noes, their lack of condemnation is encouraging it. It isn't.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well fuck you, too.

Having a good appreciation for fantasy and the imagination to take yourself out of the real world on occasion does not mean you can't distinguish one from the other, or that you have problems.

I feel so sorry for people who can't see that. Because they must live pretty fucking awfully boring lives.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Good grief, this. If I have to have one more "My girlfriend that you don't know at all wants me to get her a present, what do girls like?" conversation with one of my guy friends I am going to run screaming.

Dunno about you, but speaking as a female, myself, I generally hate playing anything but single-player mode in general.

Competitive or cooperative, I usually just get too annoyed by other people messing up my progress, my mental route for how to complete the game, and doing things like nabbing powerups or items I was planning to use.

It's just like "GET OUT OF MY GAME SESSION. GET THE FUCK OUT. YOU ARE MESSING WITH MY STUFF. I WILL PUNCH YOU IN YOUR FACE. LEAVE MY GAME ALONE!!"

I guess it could be compared to going to someone's house, and changing all the stuff around. Hate it.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I would consider constantly threatening someone and trying to scare them abusive BUT YOU KNOW, YMMV I GUESS?

Also the pedotastic stands because GRRM selectively included it in his fantasy setting and decided to give Sandor a crush on Sansa for no reason that furthered the plot in any capacity, but yes, another issue.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Passing anon cracked up, would lol again.

But don'tcha know, it's possible to eradicate stuff by getting everyone who isn't doing it to disapprove. Vocally. On the internet.

Peer pressure for great justice! And if you don't, you're to blame for people living in sin. Wait, where have we heard that argument before? :P
