I know how you feel OP, there are a *ton* of books I'd love to have a fandom for. Thing is, books don't usually have a fandom unless they become best sellers, sadly.

If you don't want to write your own fics, there's always next year's Yuletide. But, unless there's a movie, books usually don't have fandoms.

This is not a secret. This is a whine. I hate secrets that are all "I wish there was a fandom for this!" because all they're about is fishing for a fandom.

And god forbid people want to find a fandom with which to discuss/explore the media they like.

It's not even about fishing for a fandom. It's about fishing for fanfic.

At first I got excited because, hey, book rec! I'm always in the market for something new to read! Then I googled the title and see that it's recommended for people in the eight grade... I'll be the first to admit that I just don't get people's fascination with "young adult" books. And the death blow was the first summary/review, which stated the following: This novel relies on fast action, cool gadgets, and clever problem solving rather than dialogue or character development. The guys ogle the girls while chasing an ancient Egyptian secret to immortality, and then party and play video games.

Sorry OP, guess you won't be getting any fics from me either (unless you convince me otherwise). Maybe you can give Yuletide a try, next year? Good luck!

Read this book, OP, but before I even got into fandom. I agree, it does need fic, but will probably never get big enough. Did you read the sequel?

Okay, this has nothing to do with the secret itself, but who else thought that thing toward the bottom of the cover looked like a poorly drawn cock?

Because it took me a very long time to figure out it's supposed to be a cobra.
