Really? Everyone I've known seems to find it gross (well, not if it's just a comedy thing, but if it's sexual they do), so I'd be embarrassed to admit having it to most of them.

Well, that's sort of it.

It's common, but still shamed a lot. There's a lot of people in fandom who have it. I know several people irl who have it too. But it's pretty much something most people won't admit to. Because it has to do with messing with gender roles/expectations in general and it tends to make other people quite uncomfortable. Also men dressing in feminine ways are often belittled/used as comic relief, as you said.

Or, you know, maybe I just know weird people.
