So yesterday I'm on Youtube and I see a video on the sidebar that has millions of views. I look at the person in the video and... it's this girl I went to high school with!

I click on her channel to find out she has a ton of subscribers, even more than most of my favorite Youtube stars, and on tumblr people make all these GIFs of her face and she's, well, relatively internet-famous.

It's soooo trippy. I wanna spam "OMG I KNOW YOU IN PERSON REMEMBER THAT TIME YOU ASKED ME IF I HAD A PAD YOU COULD USE!?" on all her videos. but that would be so lame.

Anyone else had any experiences like this?

Do you remember, earlier this year, that horribly racist Senate ad that ran in Michigan for Pete Hoekstra? With a terrible Asian caricature riding a bicycle through rice paddies, speaking broken English, and claiming that the incumbent Senator was somehow working to the advantage of China? I went to high school with the girl who acted in it. She kind of sucked. I laughed for like a minute and a half when I found out.

Also the same high school that Darren Criss went to (I was a couple years behind him), so that's more positive.

I dated someone who's pretty well-known for his internet writings nowadays. He wasn't when we dated, we were both just nerds who met on a video game message board - and for that matter, I was kinda well-known for awhile a little bit after that, to the point where someone would call me by my real name on IRC and I'd see people go "OMG, wait you're [name]?! OMG OMG OMG!" Unlike him, though, I've not done anything except cosplay under my real name for years, and I never did anything all that impressive anyway. He, however? Is still a genius.

My Mom grew up in the Long Beach area, and she went to high school with the voice actress behind Tanya in Fievel Goes West and Blossom in The Powerpuff Girls! I think that's the closest I've ever come to it, though. I've met voice actors at cons, of course, but I wouldn't say I "know" them just because of that.

I'm friends with the guy who made the inception hamburgerphone comic (http://i.imgur.com/pqdYe.jpg). He didn't watermark it so not many people knows he made it.

Does this count? One of my family members is a pretty well known football player here in tinsy Norway.

Also apparently I have the same great something grandad as Kurt Cobain.

I was active in this guild on Neopets about ten years ago (I know, right?), and the guy who ran said guild is now a relatively famous artist working for Disney. He might be best known for designing last year's contest-winning Macy's parade balloon. Of course we're not friends like we used to be, but I do have him on Facebook...

An old family friend is now a succesful author with a pretty active fanbase. It always weirds me out to see people squeeing about his work in fannish space. Those two words should not collide.

YES. I went to high school with Todrick Hall, who almost made it to the finals on American Idol a few years ago and did the CinderFella video earlier this year. I had heard people talking about that video, and initially didn't think anything of it 'til I watched and realized A.) OMG IT'S TODRICK AGAIN and B.) OH MY GOD HIS PRINCE IN IT IS LANCE BASS! (I was a bit of an *NSYNC fangirl back in high school and I had a thing for Lance) It's so weird when I see people online talking about his stuff. He was pretty nice to me and he was one of the only male cheerleaders we had--actually, the last, during my time at our school.

Oh dude, I loved CinderFella. Didn't he do the Beauty and the Beat video that's going around, too? Or is that someone else?

I'm so happy to hear you thought he was nice! I love him. Last week my grandfather called my little brother "cinderfella" as a joke and I mock gasped and too him to shut his slanderous mouth because that's Todrick Hall :D

I'm the daughter of a slightly famous person. A very well known sf writer. Other parent is published too. So sometimes people who know me count my parent(s). But I also know a lot of really awesome people through them!

I kind of want to play the "guess the writer" game but I don't want to out you. There are only so many writer couples...

I lived in the neighborhood/hung out with a current (or would be, eff lockouts and Bettman) NHL player. We didn't go to the same school because mine was catholic and his was public, but we'd hang out in the summer and after school and stuff.

Took me a couple years after he'd hit the NHL, to really figure it out.

I went to high school with Valerie Plame. (I was a freshman when she graduated.) I remember when the story broke, wondering if it was some relation of hers--then I found out it was actually her.

I knew her slightly from the German Club, in which I think she was Secretary or Treasurer. She was totally not the kind of person you'd think of as a future CIA agent--which, I suppose, is exactly the kind of person who becomes a CIA agent.

A couple years ago, I discovered one of the stereotypically hypermasculine football players I went to high school with had a starring role in a gay porn flick. More than one, actually.

I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it.

(And no, I don't remember his stage name.)

That weird feeling when you stumble upon a fan-forum dedicated the little brother of the guy who used to bully you in primary school?
The little eleven-year-old (as I remember him), who looked so much like his brother, has become an internationally acknowledged model, and time-to-time I find forums or tumblr posts about him. (Granted, most of them from the period between 2005 and 2008, but still...)And he's a listed insterest at LJ (4 communities, 7 journals).
