Friendships between people on opposite sides of a love triangle: who even though they love the same person and might even see each other as rivals in that way, their friendship with each other is just as important, or more.

I prefer if it's two female characters (like Chuck and Olive from Pushing Daisies) or a male and a female character (like Syaoran and Tomoyo from Cardcaptor Sakura), since two guys who like the same girl feels like it's been done more. Two male characters would probably work for me if the love interest is also male, but I can't think of any examples in my fandoms...

Ooh, yes, I love those, too! It's nice to see people that can be in a love triangle and NOT hate each other. It makes both people seem...like...way more reasonable.

Betty and Veronica from Archie comics always weirded me out how they could be totes bffs and still have big bitchfights over Archie, 'cause I'd always been taught by TV and stuff that opposite sides of a love triangle should hate each other.
