So a while back, there was a darkfic-rec-thread here, and someone posted a nice long Pokemon fic called Pedestal. Well, I read it, loved it, am reading another by the same writer, and now I'd quite like to read more along those lines.

It doesn't have to be dark, but does anyone have any recs for long, preferably plotty fics set in the Pokemon universe with original characters? Preferably not involved in the actual game plots, and who'd have no reason to know the game protagonists?

The Pokeverse is fun, basically, and I want to read more set in it, but I want to see other people's takes on things, not rehashes of the games. (Rarer regions like Orre, or all-out original ones, are fine too!)

There is a lot of amazing Pokemon OT (original trainer, the genre you're looking for) out there! The problem is that most of it is unfinished. :(

I quite liked Poltergeist's: it's another author's half of the deal with Digital Skitty. Unfinished, I think?

Ice is very, very dark (it can be a little OTT sometimes) but it's an unusual take on the genre and I enjoyed it. Discontinued.

Clouded Sky is set in an original region, and has a lot of really unique worldbuilding. Discontinued.

I've read quite a few others as well, but I am terrible with bookmarks and it is way too late for me to remember them all, sorry. >_< If I remember more I'll tell you!

Ooh, thank you! Shame about them being discontinued, but I'll have a dig through them.

(I have my own story in mind, based on an RP that I used to be in, but made original and sort of taking my own angle on things, so it'd be interesting to see how others handle it, too!)
