Fic tags you avoid?
(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 02:26 am (UTC)(link)For me it's the nonsensical, useless tumblr tags that have been showing up on AO3. I can't take the fic seriously because the author doesn't take their own fic seriously. I automatically assume it's going to be terrible and the few times I've broken my rule and read those fics, they proved my assumptions. I don't think the people at AO3 predicted those sorts of tags when they chose to make the archive tags free-form.

I'll also avoid high school AU. Otherwise I can't think of anything in particular that makes me go "Ugh! No!" Usually that reaction is more for just fandoms I have no interest in or summaries that don't look promising.
Also, tag that I DON'T avoid that other people often do: Anything to do with OCs. One of my favorite fic series has a TON of OCs, but they fit the (slightly AU) world of the fanfic perfectly and interact with the canon characters so well (and are just plain awesome on their own) that I always give OCs a fair shake now.

In addition, I'll skip anything that smacks of soapboxing or SJW's favorite words. Yuck.
