The phrasing of "real girls" tends to call up real = cis for a lot of people, though. The phrase in general is suspect, even when trans issues aren't involved, basically. It might not be what the OP intended, but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way too...

I don't want to sound rude but that's a bit like saying "I don't like it when people use the word 'bitch' when clearly referring to their female dog, because in another context it is used as a gendered slur".

I'm not saying you shouldn't feel uncomfortable per se. I'm just wondering why people in this thread are trying to make this about transphobia when it clearly is about het vs femmeslash.

I agree, this is a better way of phrasing what I meant. I understand that "real girl" rubs people the wrong way no matter what, but the context makes it really clear it doesn't have anything to do with transphobia at all.
