I think it's kinda funny that you think JKR made him one-dimensional, and yet think "there's this other side to him" because he was caught making out... WHICH WAS WRITTEN BY JKR. If you think that fleshes him out, JKR did not write him one-dimensionally.

So, instead of making him a paper thin character, she made him a cardboard-thin character. Yeah, that totally invalidates the point, you're right. /sarcasm
