SJW is a social justice warrior.
Don't confuse this with social justice. Social justice is a noble goal and many good people stand behind it. These are the people who make food drives. Get petitions going (real in person ones, not online ones), the ones who work at soup kitchens, have documentaries, who work at shelters.
A Social Justice warrior, however "fights the good fight" in other ways. Like dog-piling people online for using the word "gay" in their blog to refer to a musician's album... three years ago. Making sure black people who say they aren't offended by x thing know they have internalized racism and are doing it wrong. Letting you know that you are a misogynist if you refer to that character on that show you like as a bitch (the fact she's an antagonist and the actress who plays her says she's a bitch is irrelevant), a horrible person if you have ever voted for a republican for any office ever, you're a racist if you aren't dating outside your race, but you shouldn't date other races because that's racist (I'm not making this up), you appropriate cultures if you are not Japanese but like sushi, and you should be raped to death if you aren't a vegan (use the word rape though, and your triggering and deserve to have it done to you).
In truth, it's a bunch of people, many of whom have gotten the shit end at some point in their lives, and got together on the internet and realized they were a big enough club to give shit back. Or they are teens/adults guilted into buying the idea that some privilege they probably have gotten in their lives compared to the less fortunate makes them bad people and they must compensate for this (of course, this still ignores the individual. You white? you have Privilege. How your life actually has been doesn't matter, this supersedes that). or they just join the crowed because people do that since they want to belong. They care less about actual social justice then they do about being right and "getting even" with the world. Which they usually see as a slut shaming white patriarchal republican rape culture out to oppress and trigger them at every turn. They fail to miss the irony that they act as bad as most of the groups/people they hate half the time, and use the same bullying tactics.
