My brother is so hard to buy for. He's pretty well off, monetarily speaking, and picky about what he likes. So I can barely afford anything of the calibre he prefers, plus if he wants something he usually just goes and gets it. He's also a little OCD mixed with minimalist, so artwork or knicknacks or anything like that is out. Useful, high end, simple and something he hasn't gotten for himself - impossible!

That sounds exactly like my father. Just add in the fact that what few hobbies he does have are pretty much inscrutable to me, so getting him something hobby-related that he either needs or would enjoy is impossible because I just don't know enough about what's involved.
