I feel like half of my conversations are about fandom related or geeky things, so I couldn't hide it even if I wanted to. Take away fandom and I'm really boring. (Well...I'm not sure I'd call myself interesting anyway, but still.)

You shouldn't feel ashamed of it imo. There are PLENTY of fans who aren't 'insane' and most people probably wouldn't judge you harshly because of it. You might even make more friends if you're open about your interests.
