because then I can focus on the entire screen instead of just the subtitles.

again, i can't even begin to relate/understand. it's not something i struggle with, subtitles are pretty unobtrusive to me. but then, i grew up with them! as do most people from non-anglo countries that consume a lot of american media.

These days I'll watch something in English and have the English subs on, too, because that way I feel I don't miss anything. When watching movies in French I also use English subs if availiable, otherwise I'll have to make do with Swedish.

I really don't like Swedish dubs. Hearing dialogue in my second languages filters out some of the ridiculousness, whereas my own brings so much embarrasment.
