Re: Stay with job or leave it?

I was going to say that sounds really sucky, until the above anon pointed out you're making the equivalent of $20 an hour. That's very good for a part-time job for a student. Even better, I assume you can work on these articles whenever you want as long as you get them in under a deadline, which is a nice bit of flexibility to have when you are in school and your schedule changes because of exams and things. If you went and got a job in a coffee shop or somewhere, you'd probably have to work at least twice as long to make the same amount of money (and no one is going to hire you for only three hours a week, anyway.) I'd say the work is worth the money, provided you 1) continue to write these things fairly quickly, 2) can spare the time, and 3) don't hate it beyond all comprehension.

I misrepresented the way that the job compensates me. I don't get paid by hour, I get paid by post.

So basically, it doesn't matter how long I work, I'll still only get paid $30 a week, because I get paid per post, not per hour. Especially considering that my boss expects me to do the extraneous research for each post, it leaves me with little support.

So basically my boss controls how much I write and how quickly I write. I only ever get 3 posts a week. It doesn't matter how quickly I'm finished with them, those are the only 3 I get. When I turn in those at the end of the week, I get $30.
