OP - I think if you had used Ben Riley as an example of how Spiderman doesn't work without Peter Parker, then you could have avoided all the racist accusations as it is a legitimate comparison.

But no one remembers how Ben Riley was actually going to become the real Spiderman and Peter was being shunted off.

Or even remembers Ben. :(
