There is quite a bit of interesting nightmare fuel to work with (especially some of the Pokédex entries), but I think it depends on how active your imagination is. It's more that you're given the beginnings of some pretty terrible/bizarre/awful information, and where you go with it from there is up to you. I've read some wonderfully creepy Pokémon fanfiction, but that said I'm generally not scared of almost any scary things, so I can't say it legitimately scares me, really.

I love the nightmare fuel aspect of the Pokémon canon and fanon. :D

Oops, I never really paid attention to the Pokedex flavor text because many of them didn't make very much sense in game. I though all Pokemon fanfics were based on the anime or the manga so stories based on Pokedex entries never crossed my mind. Thank you for the explanation.

Pokémon is fun because it has so many different canons (way, way more than you'd think) and there's so much information to play with.
