It did occur to me, only because I know how stupid and pig-headed some people can be. The way I see it is, I want my partner to be able to bail me out of a bad situation. It doesn't matter if my partner is a guy or a girl, I trust that they'll do what needs to be done when the time comes and I'll do the same if our roles are reversed. Anything less is illogical.
Not everyone this this way though. Sigh.
