The republican party actually wants to work with people now?

News to me.

Did you not miss the whole bit where there was a public declaration they would block anything Obama or Democrats attempted to do in an attempt to make him a one term president? Where they actually did spend the past 4 years dragging their feet on everything?

It's a spiteful as fuck political scene right now. It's like kids mudslinging, and the republican politicians don't care as long as they can be spiteful children who get their way.

No, they don't want to work with anyone. But we won't want to work with them if we think they're caricatures, and we need to work with them, so we need to be the grown-ups. It sucks, a lot, but there you have it.


I realize you're not doing anything but stating a mild leftist version of what the right's been ranting about for years. You could be even more over the top and not even equal what the right gets away with in the mainstream media. I'm just not very keen on propaganda, oversimplification, and demonization of large groups of people even when it's on my side. I'm finicky that way.

Then again, I just went to dinner with some apparently intelligent coworkers who apparently don't believe in global warming, so screw it. Rant away. IDGAF we're all going to die in a hurricane ugh I hate humanity whyyyy....

I'm not talking about the entire Republican population of America. I am not demonizing Republicans as a whole. I'm talking about the state of the current stance of the Republican party, the majority of Republican politicians, who are honestly not at all Republican at this point in our history.

Most of the Republicans I know can't even vote for Republican politicians right now in clear conscious. They don't support bigotry, they don't support most of the extremist views, but the major presence in their party right now is mouth foaming creeps.

Both sides of the political scene are corrupt right now, but the Republican politicians are extreme fools.

This. My parents are both moderate Republicans for economic reasons mostly, but they have voted Democrat on just about every selection in the last two elections.

I don't have a problem with people who identify as Republican for reasons that I don't find repugnant. As soon as they vote Republican, though, I have a problem. There is just no way to justify morally voting Republican right now.
