Republicans pushed for the end of slavery. Lincoln was republican.

No party is 100% anything. Evil or good.

The ideas of the two parties switched during Reconstruction. So while he may have been a Republican then, his ideas are more in line with today's Democrats.

It's long past time for Republicans to stop comforting themselves with this. The Republican party of then was nothing like the Republican party of today and the GOP would treat Lincoln like a leper if he were trying to join their ranks now.
