Dude, if your initial thoughts are about how suffering people will never see the finale of your super awesome anime show, you have a completely warped point of view most likely brought by having a very cushy life that has never pushed any sort of real tragedy upon you and forced you to think about what is really important.

I'm not the OP. The problem the OP is having is distorted priorities in how they are responding to people dying in an earthquake. Distorted priorities are not a "first world problem". People dying in an earthquake certainly isn't a "first world problem".

People dying in an earthquake certainly isn't a "first world problem".

It is if they die in a first world country.

It is if they die in a first world country.

I'm laughing as I sit in my house in front of a kerosene stove trying to stay warm. First world, my ass.

Mmmkay, so you're saying that any problem occurring in a first world country is a first world problem. You do realize this renders the phrase "first world problems" meaningless? A serious problem is no less serious because of where it occurs. Dead people are the same amount of dead. The whole point of the "first world problems" thing is to describe "problems" like not getting the latest iPhone or having to wait ten minutes at Starbucks. Dead is a problem no matter where you are.

Are you trolling me? I think you're trolling me. Or else you're actually arguing that "first world problems" is a stupid, meaningless expression which blithely dismisses everything that happens to people in the so-called first world as unimportant, in which case, fine. I have no quarrel with that.
