I'm one of the few that finds some of this fishy. Did he or didn't he? And even though I usually see the victim's side, the mere fact that first one recanted....and then not, what, a day? after that, another comes out? I see it as a money thing. :/

I know this is something that is heavily under reported and it really needs to not be, but this one screamed fishy to me from the start.

Think what you will until/if this ever gets fully resolved. But I'm not of those people who immediately thinks the one being accused is the devil and evil and go die in a fire until more stuff comes out. Usually it's in favor of the victim, at least when I look into them, but yeah.

What you said and the fact that they brought up civil charges and not criminal ones is where it's fishy to me. Civil just means you want the money, criminal means you want someone put away.

I would never non-anon admit this online, but this is definitely one of those stories I am unsure about.

Yeah, that too. I forgot it was only civil charges. But I agree.

I kind of saw it that he was pressing civil charges because the statute of limitations would be up in criminal court, since it happened when he was 15 and he is now 24. But you bring up a good point, and I just don't know enough about the story to form an opinion. Just wanted to point out that even if he HAD wanted to press criminal charges, he wouldn't have been able to.

Actually I am not sure that is true, especially since it would be considered a case of child molestation they may be able to bring up criminal charges. Particularly heinous rapes and child molestation are often reason enough for the statute of limitations to be thrown out.

I actually think New York doesn't even have a Statute of Limitations on rape which is where I believe the case came up? I need to go back and read on it more.

Yeah, I don't know. In Canada I think the statute of limitations is like, six years. But that doesn't really make a lot of sense to me, because how the fuck do you have a statute of limitations for a crime as awful as rape, or child molestation?
