This is why we have fic! I wouldn't want to see biBond on the screen because they'd have to ruin the character and everything we've known about him for 60 years, but I love biBond in fic.

If the increasingly ridiculous plots and the pleasantly decreasing misogyny didn't ruin Bond, I think Bond making out with another dude wouldn't murder the franchise.

Well, they'd lose most of the pre-Craig Bond fans, but they're going to lose them over the next 20 years anyway because no one can live forever. Maybe the new generation of Bond fans would be alright with it but we're a long way off from that happening.

I like that they've moderinsed the character and plots, but I'm glad they didn't feel they had to change his sexual orientation to do it. I think that really would murder the franchise. It's more woman-friendly now, but it's still a franchise marketed towards straight men. I think there would be a huge backlash a la Coronation Street and production heads would roll.

Collinson was fired and we're getting Corrie back. Same would happen with Bond. Gay and bi characters are all well and good, but they don't fit in certain media types. Corrie would have been fine if Collinson hadn't tried to push gay rights using a show whose demographic was mostly neutral and tried to fit it in disproportionately with the cannon setting. Making Bond gay or bi would be even worse. Just create a new character who is gay or bi. I find it offensive that anyone would think changing someone's sexual orientation is progress.
