I only just heard about this. Sesame Street didn't air in my country when I was little and Elmo wasn't a character then (late 70s and early 80s).

England is going after lots of straight white men and America has done that before. I don't think he's being treated differently just because he's black or gay. It looks like someone lied about him because they had an opportunity to and then some other people did the same. Even if it is all true and he did wrong, his race and sexuality doesn't have anything to do with it.
