At a certain point, you just have to accept that adaptations are going to be imperfect and that they are their own thing. Just expect it to be terrible, and you'll be pleasantly surprised and you can enjoy it on its own terms.

I'm not quite sure why there even needs to be a live adaptation. (To be honest, I was hoping it was quietly cancelled, but...)

What, they're adapting it? Why did I not know this? I love the book a lot but honestly have no clear picture of any of the characters, so unless the casting is truly horrendous I probably won't notice.

I wish I hadn't accidentally ruined this book for myself... I downloaded the audiobook from Audible but either Audible or Itunes mislabeled the parts so I ended up listening to the 4th part first... I just thought it was one of those books that throws you into the middle of a story and lets you catch up later for like 2 hours. By the time I realized what happened a lot of huge shit had been spoilt.

Just for a few minutes. And then I'll go back to being absolutely indifferent about the casting. Ever since they cast Daniel fraking Craig as Lord Asriel in that dreadful movie I've been basically immune to bad casting.

More seriously... It's probably not going to be as good as anyone would have liked, but I'm fairly sure they can do an at least decent job.
