What is the meanest thing you've ever said to someone, FS?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Piggybacking off of yesterday's thread "What was the meanest thing someone has ever said to you, FS?"

Re: What is the meanest thing you've ever said to someone, FS?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Does it count as mean if this person was an abusive asshole to me 24/7 for over five years?

OP (Re: What is the meanest thing you've ever said to someone, FS?)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. Deserved or undeserved.

Mean is the nicest word for it.

Edit: I meant mean was the most polite thing to call whatever they were saying to you. I misread the thread titles. Whatever you said, they earned it.

I actually insulted Dick Vitale within earshot during some ESPN preshow thing for college basketball. He didn't go to where I was dissing him to give out his book or something.

That's awesome.

It's probably not the meanest thing I ever said (I was like teenaged Liz Lemon when I was that age and said really shitty things), but I once made this really snarky comment about a classmate's intelligence right in front of her, thinking she wouldn't understand what I'd said because she was, presumably, so dumb. She totally understood it and was like "What the hell, seriously" and looked so genuinely hurt that I felt legitimately terrible, and I stopped doing shit like that.

I told someone she was a bitch to her face. Really matter-of-factly for maximum impact. We were fifteen and it's still one of those golden memories that makes me feel guiltily proud (I'm nearly 30) even though I don't think well of past!Me for doing it. She was a bitch though. I was the hero of my year for a whole day.

"Who the hell's gonna miss you? You're a bratty and gossipy attention whore who keeps changing sides."

I stand by everything but "whore". The person in question was a serial fandom-quitter - as in this was the fourth or fifth time they quit the same fandom. The longest they stayed away was three months.

It didn't help they kept whining about how mean everyone was while talking behind their backs and throwing hissy fits. In a relatively-small fandom.

I get why the rest of it bothered you, but what's wrong with quitting a fandom?

My brother and I got into a really big fight on Halloween once... I told him I wanted to kill him and that he was fat and ugly in his costume and I hope he got poison candy and died.

In my defense... this was after he tried to strangle me.

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIT

Why the fuck was he even trying to strangle you in the first place?

I told my uncle's wife she's a sociopathic, materialistic, hateful slice of shit and terrible mother of 3 failed children.

She's been bullying me since I was 4 years old, and the woman is older than my dad. I finally spoke up when I was 12. I don't regret saying these things to her at all.

The target of my meanest comment didn't deserve it and I felt bad about it as soon as I said it.

When I was in 5th grade, C, a girl I'd been friends with, dropped me to join a group of girls who didn't like me. She and her new friends spent the school year bullying me. One day near the end of the year, they were talking the usual trash about me, but then they started in on my father. My father has been heavyset my entire life and he was also older than my classmates' fathers (and visibly so). C was the main one making fat jokes and age jokes about him.*

I got so angry at C calling my father fat and old that I finally snapped and yelled back at her without thinking, "At least my father actually loves me! Your father hates you so much that he can't even be bribed to talk to you on the phone!" She visibly recoiled in shock, then burst into tears and ran off.

* Back when C and I were friends, we were discussing our parents being divorced/separated when we were both very young. Unlike my father who visited with me regularly, always paid child support, etc., C's father took off and never visited her, never paid child support, or never even called her on the phone, despite her mother and paternal grandmother begging. Her grandmother would even offer him money to visit C and/or take her out an outing, which she would also pay for. He never did.

This is actually a response to yesterday's, 'cuz I missed it.

Years back a person who I thought was a friend ended up siding against me in some drama, some nonsense about a friend of hers having a falling out with a friend of mine, who was also friends with the first friend. We got into it and she told me that I should just shut up because I don't have any "real" friends.

I told her that automatically disqualified her from being one.

Last I heard she was still wasting her life playing WoW 18 hours a day, so what the fuck ever.

-------------

That said, the meanest thing I ever said to anyone was "you're why your dad drinks." To be fair, I said it to a person who I was not friends with (actually this is a person I have many, many stories about.) I was actually just throwing that out there, I had no idea if the person's dad actually drank or not, but apparently it hit a nerve and I wasn't at all sorry.

To some people that does feel good.

I hear jerking off with Icy/Hot is a unique and memorable experience.

I can't really think of a specific thing I've said. I know I've said some pretty awful things, especially to my SO. Heat of an argument type stuff.

I was really short with co-worker (not someone I interact with normally, thankfully) and apparently she cried later. Though, I don't think it was just me that made her cry. The whole situation was frustrating. Still, I probably should have apologized.

I called my brother an 'it' and wished we had never adopted him.

It was the only time I've been spanked and it was very deserved. (He was...7 or so, I was 17.)

We're good now.

That, while I didn't want them to do it, I really, really couldn't deal with talking them [a friend] out of being suicidal right at that moment.

In fairness, they were dumping this on me while I was mid-panic attack [and a major one at that], and they had a habit of pulling out 'I'm suicidal' whenever everything wasn't about them.

I insulted my dad's masculinity when I knew he was insecure about it. I was thirteen and my mental health issues were still untreated, but it was still a really shitty thing to do. I think I said something about how I wouldn't consider him to be a man. I don't really remember, but I bet he does.

My best friend at the time and I called each other really awful nicknames based on the way one of our teachers mispronounced our names. It was usually no big deal, we liked ribbing each other that way. But on the day of her twelfth birthday, I kept calling her by the awful nickname even when she told me to stop. She ended up crying for the rest of the afternoon.

I didn't understand what the big deal was at the time. I've been feeling awful about this for years and I don't think I can ever make it up to her.

I'm sure this isn't the meanest thing I've ever said, but I kinda feel a little bit bad about it. Kinda.

So I bought this Hello Kitty watch at Target. It was obviously a watch for adults (or, like, super fat kids? I don't even know), and the guy who checked me out (who was at least 65) asked me, "Aren't you too old for Hello Kitty?"

I, without missing a beat, said, "Aren't you too old to be working at Target?"

Old dude looked really sad. But like, I'm 30 not 65, and if I want to buy a fucking Hello Kitty watch, I'm going to buy a fucking Hello Kitty watch.

But yeah, I think that makes me an asshole for not being able to stop myself from saying stupid, mean shit like that. I'm old enough to know better.

I told my aunt that I was glad she could never have children because she would be a terrible mother. I know it cut her deep, and I'm not sure that I really feel all that bad about it even now. The woman was (and still is, to some extent) verbally abusive to both my brother and I growing up, and she was always the biggest bitch whenever I saw her asked to watch my cousins when they were little.
