brightblueink: Mami about to get eaten by Charlotte. (CHOMP)

Possible, but...improbable, considering it's rare that they go out.

Also I think I'd rather them create a new character than switch the gender of a book canon character.

But that's the thing! Since Dwarves have beards, regardless of gender, there's nothing that says one of the Dwarves wasn't female. The book is from Bilbo's POV, and it's hardly the sort of thing he'd notice. And it's not like it changes personality, or anything.
brightblueink: Satou from Welcome to the NHK! sleeping in front of his laptop. (Crash)

I'm pretty sure the dwarves all address each other as male, though, and they would know.

And it would probably have to change something to be done right? Not that they have to act all stereotypically girly if female, but gender is still definitely a...a thing that effects people. At the very least, changing the gender would change how society treats them to at least some degree. So, yeah, it probably would have to change the character at least a little if actually done right.

So... considering Kili is pretty enough to be a female dwarf, would that make it femmeslash with the elf girl?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Definitely! :D

Then I shall accept this new headcanon as the sister pairing to Legolas/Gimli.

If Kili is officially made female, it would be. Somehow I doubt it'll happen.

Thorin's band are kindasorta returning refugees though, right? If you want to reestablish your people in their rightful homeland, you're gonna need some women, ffs. So it seems like one a good time for one of those rare occurrences to happen to me.
brightblueink: Graham from Baccano! sulking. (Sulk)

Sort of, but it wasn't as though they were bringing every single one of the refugees with them. If anything, that'd be more reason to leave them at home so that they didn't die before they could get their home back. Sort of like how protective the Krogan are of fertile females in the Mass Effect universe.
