Re: Awkward/Fail dates

My first blind date. My sister set me up to go bowling with him and her league group. So it was kinda a group thing with he and I at a table off to the side.

I was feeling a little self-conscious because I hadn't had a chance to do laundry, so I was in jeans (that probably could have used a wash) and one of my less-nice blouses. I countered this feeling by wearing makeup (something I don't do often).

Then he walked in with ratty torn jeans, a Hard Rock Cafe tshirt with the sleeves cut off and numerous stains, and no idea when his last shave/trim was. He spent the evening talking about the Beatles (not a fan myself), and how he got all of his tattoos on discount because the tattooist had made some tiny mistake (that he had to point out and I had to have my nose three inches from his bicep to see) and he argued them into a discount.

At the end of the date, he said he was glad to have met me, but he didn't want to lead me on. See, he's still married. They're seperated, but the divorce isn't final (mostly because the divorce hasn't started, and they're thinking of getting back together). He was just kinda hoping for a booty call to tide him over until he gets back together with his wife. And he thinks I'm nice, but there's no chemistry so he doesn't want the booty call after all.

FYI, this was also my last blind date. (And no, my sister had no clue about the wife. He was a friend of a friend, or something like that.)

By the time I picked my jaw up off the floor, he was off saying his goodbyes to the group. Apparently he mentioned his wife, because my sister then ran over to me apologizing about this mess, and she didn't really know him that well, and she would NEVER have set up this date if she'd known he was married.
