Shitty moderators are always a pain and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Congratulations for finding a happy place in fandom regardless, even if you're not too fond of tumblr. Out of curiosity, though, was the circlejerk/wank/horribleness of the lj community you're talking about anything near the levels of sherlock_bbc? Because oh my god, I remember the horrifically stern kink-shaming from the moderators over properly warned and properly cut NC17 fic. Ugh.

i dunno i tried to stay away from sherlock_bbc as well when i heard about wank so i didnt actually experience it. but i cant imagine that a community with mods who do shit like that going down well

Hahahaha. I have actually read a fairly interesting discourse regarding the evolution of typing in different 'Internet dialects'. People who Tumblr a lot have shown trends are guilty of using a lot of intentional run-ons and ...uh, innovative ways of capitalizing words and dropping apostrophes.

Or it could just be general laziness. One or the other.

Actually, this is a bit of a sore issue for me. :c I remember getting a lot of shit once for not using any capitalization in a fanfic. It was the first and only time I'd really 'deviated' from standard punctuation and English grammar; I guess I was trying to be 'artistic', but it backfired so much and I've been skittish about it ever since. ): sorry for tl;dr

I wish I could get into fandom on Tumblr. A couple of my favourite shows have their largest followings there. Unfortunately, I'm an epic fic type, who isn't that into art, so...:-( Good for you, though, that you're open to expanding your horizons and finding new ways of enjoying your fandoms!

Please don't consider it unfortunate! I love the epic fic type. I always feel so overwhelmed by them though. When they finish fantastically, I'm left with a pile of feelings and a puddle of words and my end review is always so embarrassing.

Keep up the amazing work though! Epics are, well, epic. And especially fun for me to read. <3

Aw, thanks! :D I do a lot more reading than writing right now, though. I used to write quite a bit of fic (Not that you could find any of it now--I took everything I could down from sheer embarrassment, and what's left is hiding on various anon memes.), and I've always been consummately incapable of anything shorter than ~10,000 words, but I had to go and finish college and start a real job last year, so I haven't had as much time for fandom as I once did.

Tokio Hotel is a emosexual band from Germany, formed by Bill Kaulitz, and Tom Kaulitz, homosexual gay men that married one another. After recording their first demo-CD named “Devilish” Sony BMG Germany fired them. Unfortunately other companies did not have the moral fiber of Sony BMG. This is one of the few bands that have had to pay for what they have done. After turning one little girl into a devil emo the emosexual child decided to stalk the band. Beating up ones mother and getting into a slap fight at a gas station with the other. They are know for such horrible acts of emo musical sins against god as: A bunch of songs in German. Since I am not a nazi I don’t speak that foreign language.

One thing: the wank (as far as I know) wasn't from the original LJ community. The community the OP is talking about the second LJ community. For reasons which are up to anyone's interpretation, the non-original community ended up (and still is) more popular than the original community.

As for the wank, the community is (compared to other fandom general communities) really strict about the quality of their posts. So the moderators end up rejecting a lot of "sub-par" entries. Now, this is all well and fine (especially as they disclaim this quite often), but from time to time, they slip up and reject perfectly good works too. No one's entirely certain why especially as it's a bit of an in-joke to call them robots but, needless to say, it must be kind of annoying for someone who actually does qualify for posting.

Admittedly, I got the longer stick here; my works were actually approved, so I don't feel the bad blood that a lot of the hopefuls must have felt. ^^;

On one hand, it bugs the fuck out of me, on the other hand, I'm not too sure what I'm complaining about exactly. I mean, sure communities go through periods of activity, but it just seems weird still??

yeaaah pretty much what anon above me mentioned. the hiatuses were weird as fuck and appeared as if it was just one person trying to exercise their authority for no adequately explored reason.

i never tried to submit my fic because i was all like FK U GUYS, although i dont think i would have had a problem getting in; their standards are pretty low imo ~_~

But there are several KuroBasu comms on LJ, and those don't have strict posting rules or anything... It just makes me sad that the fandom has moved to tumblr, it's difficult to have a proper discussion there, and there is nobody left on LJ to have a discussion with.
