did you really expect teahouse to be anything other than your everyday, stereotypical yaoi

(Anonymous) 2012-12-13 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
No it's supposed to be a well thought out politically correct love letter to the gay community. Not the silly self-indulgent webcomic they have said it is.

yup, I read maybe a dozen pages and it was obvious it was awful

It's a lot worse than yaoi. I know yaoi often looks bad im translation, but that's because the self-parody and the irony you often see in the original, closely related to the culture that original is created in, just don't come over in English.

Teahouse may try to mimic yaoi, but it ends up being just horrible, horribly homophobic, horribly sexist, racist, and plain disturbing. This is the short of shit SJW should go after instead of blaming it on yaoi. It presents a crass distortion of what the authors think yaoi is, based an a very limited view, again based on what is available in English translation. Teahouse is trash.

Citation? I'd like to know more about this.

Nah. The shittiness of Teahouse is all the authors', and has nothing to do with yaoi. It's not because they're yaoi fangirls that they can do yaoi.
