Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. It's okay to have a different opinion, but it just seems like you're always trying to find the negative in everything. I'm almost scared to continue posting here if this is going to start becoming a trend among members. I enjoy a good discussion on why one likes this and whatnot, but it just seems like it's become a daily thing for you to rag on something or someone's opinion. We post here to say things we wouldn't say out loud to others because we don't want that overtly negative opinion.

I think Yuffie in FFVII fits in that category as well. Rinoa struck me at least intially as a spoiled little girl playing at being a rebel just as Yuffie was a spoiled little Princess playing at being a ninja...and one who stole everyone's materia.

More to the point though is that I'm not saying that every female character in a Square Enix game is like this. In FFVII I liked Tifa and Aerith. In FFVIII I liked Quistus and that other female who accompanied them and whose name I've forgotten because it's been so long since I played the game. And there was a female General in I believe it was FFVI whom I really liked.

Rinoa and Yuffie were annoying to me.

I knew it! ::dies.::

Celes is awesome. I still can't believe someone on here referred to her as a Mary Sue. I also adore Rosa from FFIV.

Yay~ :D

wrong journal. Dammit. XD Squeeing anyway!

In her defense, Rinoa was SUPPOSED to be a spoiled little girl playing at being a rebel. She's NOT a TRAINED KILLER FROM CHILDHOOD like all the SeeDs; she was MEANT to be the one that was innocent, different, and the one that saw the world in a different, more optimistic, "we can CHANGE things if we try!" way. I do think that Squall did a 180 and randomly fell in love with her, but that doesn't mean that RINOA did it; that was Squall being OOC, not a problem with Rinoa as a character. Rinoa as a character falling for Squall was totally IC for her; Squall feeling the same way back is HIS problem, not HERS.

Personally, I think Rinoa's character was fine as it is. Squall is the one that needed work, bad.

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a Rinoa fan too! <3

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, and "kawaii" is Japanese for "cute."

Re: #16

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)

Yeah, Squall bugged me a lot. His apathy drove me up a wall.

[identity profile] autophobia.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Let me be the one to disagree, then. I don't know the person, but I tend to scroll through comments just like anyone else to see the differences of opinions and what becomes of it. Diversity pleases me, that sort of thing. So far, I haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] lost_remnant do anything but speak her/his mind, and respond to the secrets.

I also don't feel like starting a wank war, but, here I go: A lot of these anonymous comments seem very off, to me.

"I think you're one of the reasons that people have to keep some of these things secret." "I'm almost scared to continue posting here if this is going to start becoming a trend among members... We post here to say things we wouldn't say out loud to others because we don't want that overtly negative opinion."

You know, if we didn't have the inbred fear of disagreement, I think a lot of things wouldn't stay secret, correct. I don't think I'm all that off by saying that that's part of the reason why this community was created, and also why secrets are posted anonymously. Opinions are going to be shared here, that's part of the purpose of it, and if you don't want opinions, I don't think it's completely wise to read through the comments after seeing your secret posted.

[identity profile] autophobia.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
And, excuse the typo. [livejournal.com profile] lostremnant^

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Technically, by your reasoning, then, those anonymous people above have just as much right to express their opinions as [livejournal.com profile] lostremnant does, right? And none of the posts made above were particularly offensive, in my opinion.

You see this happen all the time in [livejournal.com profile] ljsecret (especially when anything dealing with homosexuality is posted) and meh, people will be people and disagree with each other. What can you do?

[identity profile] wyna-hiros.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
2. You were close! Maybe next time?

3. Oh wow. Thank you! T_T

15. That doll is ten kinds of pretty. *random*

18. Word. The Final Fantasy bits of it are okay, but the Disney=awesome. Sorry, FF, but Donald rocks out over all of you. :3

22. I tried watching a family member play this game once and the entire thing seemed like it was movie after crazy-long movie. I mean, it was a beautiful game, and the movies were gorgeous, just....Where's the actual game part of it?

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 06:32 am (UTC)(link)

15. Her dolls are amazingly beautiful. I had Rufus commissioned from her, alas I had to sell him off for financial reasons. If I could justify it, I'd commission another doll from her but I have no idea who I'd want this time around.

[identity profile] insteadofdeath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
17. Same! My friend (hi Xy xD) told me to submit secrets but then I realized I don't really have any! Oh, well.
24. I sympathise. That sounds like someone worthy of strangling. :/

[identity profile] insteadofdeath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed about the movie part.

At least the French chick was hot :D

[identity profile] insteadofdeath.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
24. I think it's like a rule or something... everyone has to go through something like that. ;-; It's so sad!

I'm no fan of Rinoa (because she reminds me too much like all those high school preppies I used to avoid/bully). While I used to be a fan of Squall, I'm not even that anymore. If I was to proclaim any particular liking to any character in FFVIII even though I don't like the game, it'd be Irvine and Zell.

Though I suppose, if given time, I might be able to like her, but prospects of that happening soon? Not so likely. Though I won't actively hate on her like I had in the past.

[identity profile] autophobia.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
No, I completely agree with you. Don't get me wrong, Case, my meaning of 'off' wasn't offensive, more, it seemed contradictory and wrong to me.

As long as nothing becomes too personal, and it eventually ends, I don't see any harm come from a little disagreement. All you *can* do is offer your own opinion, and sit back and watch.

And excuse me if this is a double post, LJ's whackin' on me.

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I could have misread the box, but I could have sworn that box said IV on it.

My friend said she liked watching her husband play the game because it was more like watching a movie with the cut scene length. It may have been one and I just misread the box ^^;

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Um...Tseng? (she asks with a pathetic note of hope in her voice) Then you could post the beautiful photographs and make me green with envy.

Or Mathias.

14 = ♥

AAAAAAAAAW!

[identity profile] mercale.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
1. What movie?

2. I shall do it too one day! When I think of secrets.

4. OMG the FIRST Reeve secret and I didn't make it! REEVE! *dead from joy* He's one of only three characters I seriously fangirl over. My husband needs to look like him.

7. But Square-Enix isn't that bad.

8. Been there. Done that. Was Mercury too!

14. Now I'm going to as well.

15. Nothing about the secret itself, but DAMN that is a nice pic.

16. She'd be nice and all if she wasn't counter-intuitive to every thing I am. I don't dislike her because she gets between guys either. I just feel the Squall suddenly opening up was a little bogus. She IS a sorceress.
