Re: Non-fandom confessions/unpopular opinions!

I am automatically suspicious of anyone who claims to have a "trendy" mental disorder. (I'm talking about autism, aspergers, social anxiety, ptsd, DID, etc.) Especially if they are self-diagnosed, or they claim to have multiple disorders, or if its a disorder that is characterized by its disruptive-of-life nature. And I'm doubly skeptical if they only ever mention it when they're trying to one-up other people in the oppression olympics.

I used to try and keep an open mind, because I have a PTSD + depression and I know the internet can be a haven. But it seems like most of the jackasses I see are using their issues as an excuse to be obnoxious assholes. Or worse imo, a reason to hold a perpetual pity party where they are always the victim of everything and they never have to take responsibility over their own life and actions.

I've run out of sympathy for this shit. I am all out of fucks to give.

I never, present comment excepted, mention my own on the internet for that very reason. Pisses me off that of all things, autism spectrum has managed to become trendy.

This attitude is exactly why I'm worried that bipolar might be the next new "trendy" mental illness

You sound like a jerk kind of

Uhhh

Yeah, some people def use their existent or non-existent disorders as an excuse to be a jerk, but if you automatically suspect them of being one just because they mention it? I'm side-eying you.

If they are self-diagnosed then you can be certain they are idiots.

Truthfully I'm the same. Not so much as idgaf, but as in I'll most likely keep scrolling because the amount of people claiming they are these "trendy" disorders is staggering and I believe for every 1 that is, 10 are faking.

Same for the mass amount of people claiming the be asexual. I think so man are people who think it's cool for them to be so they just act like they are.

One of my big pet peeves is when they don't have a mental illness UNTIL I'm calling them out for bullshit, and suddenly OMFG IT'S MY ASPERGERS HOW CAN YOU BE SO MEEN~. 'scuse me, but no, that's not how it works. If you have Asperger's but didn't mention it because you want to be seen as normal, DON'T MAKE AN EXCUSE OF IT WHEN YOU SCREW UP.

Yeah, I'm the same. Not because I don't think they're real or think people who are genuinely dealing with these issues should just ~get over it~ or something, but because there's a LOT of special snowflakery on the Internet and I think people exploit those issues for that reason.
