Librarians

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, pretty much everywhere I've heard of, at least in the U.S., requires librarians to have a Masters in Library Science. Granted, there are lots of library jobs that don't require that degree, but the people who do them aren't librarians, they're people who work at libraries. As a lowly aide/page, I find myself explaining this to people all the time. I don't think teachers are required to hold Masters degrees, though--I think that varies depending on in what state and at what institution a person is teaching. And if the OP of the secret was actually worried about their participation in fandom, rather than getting in some stealth bragging, they shouldn't worry. I've met--hell, probably most people in fandom have met, or are--people from all walks of life who write fanfiction, or go to conventions, or collect action figures or cosplay or are walking pop culture trivia geeks. There's no level of attainment beyond which someone has to put away their manga collection or stop watching Star Trek, or whatever, and start watching C-Span instead.
