Yeah, it was John Blythe (Gilbert Blythe's father). I can't remember if it was a fight or if it never quite got going. So to speak.

it was a fight. they had a disagreement and Marilla never quite got around to forgiving John. Thats why Marilla didnt really approve of Anne always being so stubborn and unforgiving towards Gilbert.
