It's not set in "this day and age". In any case I disagree. I work in older people's social care and see it all the time,

I know it's not set in the present day, that was the point I was trying to make (that the reader, being from our present day, might be quick to assume that anyone living with someone with the same family name would have to be married with them because that's what we percieve as our norm)--sorry that wasn't clear.

I haven't personally heard of anyone living with their siblings once they reach adulthood, but I could be wrong.

Meh, it's not that uncommon. My grandmother was living with her brother for as long as I remember. They both lost their spouses, and decided living together again, is better - and easier - than living alone.

As an only child, this makes me smile but also a bit jealous.
