Not really, it isn't. I can have an abortion any time I want, for any reason I want. That's bodily autonomy for you.

Okay, well, um...

Your body is not the only one involved. That is why it isn't simple.

It is according to the law.

I like how when the thing you agree with happens to be law, you use the law to argue your point. Should we just follow every law that's every been passed ever, or should we maybe consider the situation from a perspective of right and wrong and *then* apply law based on that conclusion? And from there, maybe work to change laws we don't agree with?

My point is, "it's the law" isn't really an argument.

Also, I'm not sure whether I'm more amused or annoyed that this conversation is still going on days after this post. That doesn't usually happen.

I'm not using it to "argue my point", I'm stating it as fact. It's the law, so it's simple: I can do whatever I want with my body, and you can do whatever you want with yours. If you feel that abortion is wrong in (insert case here) then don't have one in said case. I feel differently, and I would have one.

The moment you try to control someone else's body because of your personal beliefs, you've lost the argument. I am not your brood mare, and nor is any other woman.

Stating it's the law is kind of stating the obvious so I guess I was confused as to why you would do that. *shrug*

I'm not making any statements here about abortion other than pointing out that there are always two bodies involved. You can believe whatever you want about the relative importance of those two bodies. I don't take a political stance against all abortion; I don't think that is a good idea. But I'm not going to pretend it isn't a complex issue.
