Who is the artist?
brightblueink: Sasame from Pretear glancing downward and looking contemplative (Contemplative)

Have you said anything? I think that if I was going to commission work, I'd like to know if the art I was paying for was plagiarized.

OP

I tried but she is really good at quashing things when I confronted her once and then I didn't know other channels to get this out there minus the suggestions below which I didn't know existed until now.

I know who commissioned that Aomine and wanted to tell them but I've been stuck on the wording since it would just be a random tattle tale ask from out of nowhere?

Ick, that sounds like a pain. :( Yeah, a random anonymous ask might not be the best idea. I guess the most you can do is go to the places suggested and hope word spreads.

If you use this proof, try artist confessions. As long as you include her name(the artist), it will be exposed a lot faster. Plus they(A-C) stopped caring about submissions as long as they pertain to art

She has herself blacklisted from being posted about. I tried submitting something but was filtered out.

Well, I've seen a post going around Tumblr calling her out, so I guess more people know about it now...? Sadly I can't find that post anymore.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
http://nisoniso.tumblr.com/post/27385055595/fuck-i-didnt-say-anything-because-i-dont-have

is this the one you're talking about? there's also a response from the thief to the person who called her out, asking to sweep the issue under the rug.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
was the person reported to http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/? (lj is down right now for emergency maintenance apparently)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
I came down to say this.

Seriously, OP: you have the evidence, go submit a report there once LiveJournal is back up.

There is also an art_theft community linked in the user info, I think, but you need to join that one in order to submit anything.

This is the sort of stuff that mustn't be kept quiet.

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'll drop by once LJ gets its mess together but I dunno if it'll do anything. I went back to the blogs of the people who posted the evidence and one of them left up an ask where the artist told them to take down the evidence because "it was resolved"... but all she did was delete her rips which still exist because reblogs never forget. She didn't learn her lesson because the commission trace happened several months after that :S.

I just. I used to really look up to her and her ideas seemed so neat but now I wonder how much of it is stolen.

hurry

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hurry, and screencap everything you can find anyway. (Download all the evidence still floating around too, just in case.)

Screencap the artists pictures in their gallery (if they have one too), as they could delete them.

People in a_b have looked at cases like this before, and many, if not most of them, are in the art commissioning business, so you can ask for advice first.

In fact, I advice you e-mail one of the mods for advice. (Or a Personal Message through LiveJournal once it goes back up, if you have an account there.)

(here is a DreamWidth mirror of the community; you can find their contact info here:

http://artists-beware.dreamwidth.org/profile

)

Send them something like:

"I suspect an artist is committing art theft for their commissions, but they denied this when I confronted them, and they also hounded the person who first suspected the theft and who had posted evidence until they took it down (but I have I screencapped it just in case).

What should I do? I suspect it really is art theft, but I don't have the means to prove it besides the evidence the other person collected. Could I send you what I have so you can tell me what you think, and whether or not I should post a beware on them on the artists_beware community?

I am lost on what to do here. Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you for your time."

Change just enough and people don't know the difference. Also, it could be that when most people trace, it's fairly obvious to tell because they usually turn out badly. From what I can see, this person traces and makes it look good. (Especially comparing the red/yellow one.)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
This. You'd be surprised at how much tracery goes undiscovered for YEARS, if ever.

Not that it makes it okay. TELL ON THEM OP TELL ON THEM OP TELL ON THEM OP. There's a link up there.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, this person. Another kicker: this specific artist has had themselves blacklisted from artists-confessions on tumblr already, which probably means they don't want any sort of talk about them going around at all. Kind of suspicious, huh?

Something seriously needs to be done about this though; I don't want any of my money going to someone who could just be ripping off another artist's hard work for their own profit.

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Eek, a little! I guess artist confessions is super negative so I could understand people who don't really want publicity, but knowing her e-habits, publicity seems to be a top goal...

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Publicity seems like the only thing on her mind, I think. I remember following her when she was drawing those My Little Pony posters and quickly realized she was a huge hack. She hasn't done anything MLP related since, but still had the gall to say Homestuck artists were only drawing for popularity. Those posters were only made so she could get a bigger fan-base, and some extra cash while she was at it. SMH @ her and her behaviour tbh.

Plus, her ideas aren't all that original to begin with. Aren't most of her designs just rehashes from someone else's webcomic?

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I discovered her through said comic (which was a collab btw) and I think it is different enough now to not be called a rehash... I don't know. I feel like back then she was less obssessed with money and e-fame so it was more like a different visions thing from what I saw.

Maybe that's why she seems to have dropped it for Kurobas and MLP? Because they are more profitable. GOSH THIS IS HORRIBLE TO SAY... I'M SORRY

...I'm in the kurobas fandom but have no idea who this is... However I know that some pixiv artists have been called out but are still popular (looking at you Inu/犬) so I guess this fandom is relatively lax about it...
