This is a massive logical fallacy. Mass shooters are usually mentally ill, but the mentally ill are not always mass shooters. Mass shooters are a subsection of mentally ill people called "mentally ill people who do mass shootings". The other mentally ill people are "mentally ill people who do not do mass shootings".

Reversing "shooters are mentally ill" to "mentally ill people are shooters" is textbook logicfail that's not subjective - it's the kind of statement that would get you 1/4 of a point penalized off your SATs for being simply incorrect.

It is really not that difficult.
