They are both great characters. Nasty and conceited, and they do their best to make each other miserable. It was hysterical to see their relationship presented as the true love that conquers everything.

The funny thing is, I totally agree that they had a tendency to make each other miserable, but I think that's because - and it's sad the show didn't go the route of telling their story this way - they both put on a lot of pretenses, and I like to think the moments that gave their relationship any substance were the rare ones when they were able to be themselves around each other. (As for the actual abusive behavior, I just have to brush it off because I think the writers are dumbasses about that kind of thing in general.)

Pretty much. Most of the time they just treated each other like accessories that would fit their image, and there was very little actual affection.

I thought there was plenty of love between them - Jackson freaked the hell out when Lydia got attacked. They just made me think of how young people in relationships can often over-calculate who they need to be around the person they're with (considering Lydia's faking stupid and Jackson being a perfectionist in general), and even if the relationship fell apart because of that that doesn't mean there was never anything real to it.

Yes. I loved the part where Lydia was telling him that she shouldn't love him but she does. Because yes. Isn't it a bitch when your mind knows it's bad but you can't help your feelings?

I just wish the writers put in a couple of moments that showed them getting along and why they did like each other.
