slight spoilers for skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim skyrim sky

I am sorry but I just got this game and I need to squee about or else I will explode because no one in my household cares.

I literally bounced off the walls while the game was downloading. No, really literally. Like, I have a bruise on my hip from the counter. It was awesome.

So I calmed down and started played and it was still awesome. My first character was an Argonian dude whose name was suitably foreign-sounding and I'm pretty sure he had ADD or something because all I did for three days real time was wander around the place. I got to like level 6 and abandoned him shortly after killing Msfltxr or whatever (the first dragon) because it was bugging me how every one of the NPCs would refer to me with male pronouns when I (the player) am female. I believe that would be my Very Special Lesson for the week.

So I ditched him and made Nalia, a female Altmer with a penchant for destruction magic. I still sort of did the wander-all-over thing with her, but with more purpose: I wandered myself up to the College of Winterhold and Saarthal and all that. Also, I got some absolutely beautiful screenshots of sunrises and northern lights and ice and my horse and stuff, which I'm sure would astound my mother because I tend to not bother with cameras IRL. I'd put in pictures or links but they're all on our family computer, which I don't have access to right now (hence my return from exile here).

Weirdly, all of my characters' races have been kind of unsuited for what they end up doing. The Argonian fell in with the Thieves' Guild in Riften, then wandered away after I ran out of lockpicks. The Altmer managed to try to join the Companions in Jorrvaskr before I packed her off to the College. I'm pretty sure if I tried making a Khajiit for the express purpose of sneaking around, she'd end up attacking all the guards on sight anyway.

But it's so, so, so much fun. The world is huge. I haven't even gotten to the Throat of the World yet, there's so much stuff to do! And I love it. Thanks for the awesome early Solstice present, me!

(Aw, it was nothing.)

No, really!

Anyway, my horse is the best. Actually I think the one I have now is the second one but I don't remember because if it is, they both looked exactly the same.

There's a murder in Riften but I haven't solved it. There are like two bounties I'm kind of going after.

I think my largest problem with this game is that I can't decide what to do, and that is a very, very good problem to have.

That concludes our squee. Now back to These Messages.

That's odd that the npcs were referring you as male. I have a lady argonian and nobody has done that. I like her simply because I can spend as much time as I want under water and not worry about the panicking running out of air.

This game is crazy for ADD. I'll try going to a dungeon or town and get distracted by a butterfly and then suddenly a cave is right there needing my attention and before I know it hours have gone by and I haven't achieved anything I sat down to do.

Well, the character was male, that's why. I just liked the look of the male Argonian character model more the first time around, and quickly learned that this was, in fact, a single player game, and thus the dialog could change and so on and so forth. (I'm used to MMOs, and free ones at that.)

I do like wandering around underwater, though, so I might make another Argonian later. I'm determined to finish the main quest with one character, though.

I'm slightly sad that there's no easy way to have two different campaigns running at the same time, like one with a thief Khajiit and another with a mage Altmer. There's the load function, but that's kind of a pain, tbh.

I was wondering if you'd played yet! I'm glad you're enjoying it so much!

I started as a female nord who uses a battleaxe and shield and have stuck with that character since. I did make a male character just to mess with the customization, but I haven't played with him; I'm enjoying my first playthrough too much. I've done...remarkably little tbh. I keep wanting to go to the Bard's College or the College of Winterhold but I haven't gotten around to it. I've only joined the Companions so far and yet I've done well over 50 quests and am level 26. IDEK what I've wasted all my time on... mostly clearing out caves and dungeons and doing quests and running around the world hoarding weapons and armor and killing dragons. I should probably get to doing some of that other stuff (I.E. Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, etc.)...

I want a horse! A horse would make things so much easier, lol. I wanted a dog too but I was scared it would die, and I can't handle that, game or no.

You should upload pics, when you have access to them!

And I feel like I should say it isn't unnatural for people to start over in a Bethesda game. lol. I got at least 50 hours into Fallout: New Vegas before I started over as a male and I've got 70+ hours on that playthrough.

Personally, I'm still amused that one of my characters is a Khajiit werewolf. But I know what you mean! The world is awesome, and has so much to explore! Plus there are so many ways to do things and adkljalj.

[The game is also just as bad for the OCD though XD]

Remember, kill the dragon. Do the Akaviri proud.
