I think you are allowed to dislike any character for the simple reason that you do. Some characters just rub you wrong. Sometimes the big mistake is trying to come up with some reason to justify the fact that the character leaves you flat -- because people can poke holes in that reasoning. But liking and disliking is an emotional response and sometimes there is no intellectual reason for it.

Yes, this. A thousand times this. I've learned this the hard way. Sometimes a character just doesn't work for you, and you should just leave it at that.

When I first got into fandom years ago, I very foolishly spent a lot of energy trying to explain my dislike of a certain rather popular female character in that fandom. It wasn't until later when I saw the actress on a completely different show that I realized that it was actually the actress I was having issues with, not the character. :( That actually, on paper, I thought the character was pretty awesome. It was just the acting I was having issues with. So. Yeah. Lesson learned the hard way. :(
