Because they straight out told them (through meta, certain kinds of fanfiction, even just by chatting).

So if someone likes cutting fic, or rape fantasy fic or mpreg...that's grounds for no longer being friends?

The point is still that this hypothetical person didn't just express a generic preference, that's not what I'm talking about. The person spontaneously /motivated/ said preference. It's one step further. We can all count a vast number of possible non-creepy reasons for liking anything, but there's also a vast number of possible creepy reasons. If they're explicitly being creepy, why yes, that's ground enough for me.

(while I'm at this: by 'certain kinds of fanfiction', I meant those cases where an author repeatedly shows a character under a certain light and makes it very clear that the narration 100% endorses or 100% bashes that side of the character. The soapboxy kind.)
