Re: Episode morals that make you mad?

I know, right?

I think the writers realized that the whole "sacrifice everything for your passion, everything" driving plot wasn't working out too well, but they were too invested in the plotline to do anything else so they backtracked and pretended it was all just a life lesson for the protagonist so all was well.

Like you said, the dissonance is clear there.

And also, what is it supposed to be, a warning lesson of the decadence and self-destructiveness running rampant in the fashion industry? Because, no one knew about it already? :V

I thought it was based on a book though? So how could they screw up so badly unless the book was just as bad? I mean, either the book is bad, in which case why did they make a movie on it, or they deviated from the book and because of that deviation created the crap we have today.

I totally forgot it was based on a book. >_>

I have no idea.

*googles*

(Wait it was a comedy/drama? Where was the comedy in that story? D:>

goodness it's like finding out that Desperate Housewives was a comedy all over again

/tangent)

It says it's a "loose" adaptation.

Ha ha, reading the summary of the novel on Wikipedia makes me suspect the book was better.

So that means they ruined a good book. That's now two strikes against them.

Just popping in to say that I've read the book and I definitely recommend it. It's basically a memoir of when the lady actually worked at vogue under the editor in chief, but she changed all the names to avoid libel with vogue or something.

Working at vogue is HARDCORE.

Oh, I shall read it, then!

I've never seen the movie, but I did read the book... sounds like they're equally big piles of slop. I hated it so much I gave the book a shower. That experience was worth the eight Euros I had to pay the library for the privilege.

Everyone was horrible in their own way - except the massive doormat of a main character.

Hmm, well, since everyone is telling me different things I guess I'll just check it out from the library and have to make up my own opinion on it.

Thank you for your view on the book.

It got really muddled toward the end. I hated how the narrative and everyone else was all mad at what's her face's when the other girl got taken out and couldn't go to Paris.

yeah, they treat it like she poisoned the other girl or something to take her place

That, and the "OMG you work so much how dare you" while ignoring that her boyfriend worked as a chef...

probably a consequence of fiction!chef being nothing like reallife!chef

seriously, most people don't know how grueling a work it is

they think it's all fluffy fun easy cooking times
