(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:09 am (UTC)(link)I think the writers realized that the whole "sacrifice everything for your passion, everything" driving plot wasn't working out too well, but they were too invested in the plotline to do anything else so they backtracked and pretended it was all just a life lesson for the protagonist so all was well.
Like you said, the dissonance is clear there.
And also, what is it supposed to be, a warning lesson of the decadence and self-destructiveness running rampant in the fashion industry? Because, no one knew about it already? :V

It says it's a "loose" adaptation.
Ha ha, reading the summary of the novel on Wikipedia makes me suspect the book was better.
