So, people outside of fandom never watch TV shows or movies together? Or discuss books?

Actually, one of the things that's important for me in a partner is someone who shows some respect for the things that I enjoy. I don't care if someone doesn't enjoy the same things I do (some different interests are good!), but I'm not going to want to commit to someone if they're a jerk about it, because then I'm not going to feel comfortable sharing a day-to-day life with them.

And I'm absolutely going to be put off from someone if they express prejudice or bigotry, and that stuff can come out when discussing fictional things.
