Yeah, it kinda read to me that the OP knows it's immature but is still trying to justify it by psychoanalyzing the hater, trying to find a reason to dislike them. OP already put the person who dislikes character X in the wrong by asking questions like "How stupid are they about this? What judgments do they make? What prejudices do they have?" If somebody was already clear about why they dislike a character, OP wouldn't have to go down that list of questions.

I think that is what most people are objecting to.
