The Giving Tree.

It basically says [to me] that you should give everything you have and are to someone you care about asks, never mind how much it hurts you.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but to me The Giving Tree was always about not asking for everything from the people you love, because they will give it to you and it'll hurt them. I also thought the tree was meant to represent a parent, because that's just the kind of love parents theoretically have.

I think that book gave me a lifelong guilt complex. As a kid I hated myself whenever I asked my parents for anything. I always went and ordered the cheapest possible thing on restaurant menus and wouldn't ask for specific christmas presents. I still try not to have much of an impact on them.

Well, hello there, secret twin! @_@

I do the exact same thing to this very day. Shit, I do it even if I'm alone. @_@

That's what I thought it was too until I realized way later in life it was talking about moms. Then I was like, "Oooooohhhhh."

Wasn't there someone who redid the cover in a set with other books? Something about "If book covers were honest"? I dunno, let me check.

Yup. Here it is.
