I will give some credence to this one. I'm an actual geek, but you know... I'm like a 6 or 7 on the 1 to 10 hotness scale. And I'm not overweight, but I'm not petite either.

I'm way more likely to wear something skimpy or a costume (for a character I genuinely love) that's more revealing at a convention than I would at a Halloween party. And part of that is because I know that a majority of the other con girls are going to be less attractive than me, so I'm better able to get away with dressing up like, say, Black Canary, than I would with a non-geek crowd.

But that doesn't mean I'm not a geek or that I want to be groped by strangers. It's just a comfort level.
